Summer Reading Club for All Ages! May 31-July 31

Join us for " Read For the Win" Summer Reading Club May 31-July 31.  

Children will record the number of minutes they read in a log at the library.  Each week prizes are given.  When they have read 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week for 9 weeks they will receive a free book to keep!  Books may be read to young children. 

Sign up your preschooler/baby for the 1000 books before kindergarten program!

 

 Adults and Teens:  Why should kids have all the fun?  Adults and teens can read and enter a drawing for prizes

Pop-up Programs:

Join us Thursdays at 2 pm as we Read for the Win with crafts, stories, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities.  Open to all ages.

 

May 23-June 20 – see us at South Beloit High school during lunch, 11:30-12:15 as we check out books, book talk, and tell stories

June 21-July 29 – see us at the Boys & Girls club during lunch as we again check out books, book talk, and tell stories there

Pop-Up Programs:

Wednesdays at 2 pm

We’ll be doing a weekly pop-up play somewhere in the community – AND of course talking about reading.    Families welcome!

  Book Clubs:

Walk/Talk/Read Thursdays at 9 a.m.

 

A book discussion group for adults that will be walking at city park and the confluence and discussing books as they walk. (strollers welcome!)

* Sci-Fi / Fantasy:  Held the second Saturday of each month at 9 a.m. for  grades 9 through adults.    June 11th we will discuss-    Little Brother by Cory Doctorow

*Teens:  The first Saturday of the month @ 11 a.m.   June 4th we will discuss Fan Girl by Rainbow Rowell

Adult coloring books are gaining in popularity!  Coloring is a wonderful way to reduce stress and clear the mind.

Meet new friends by coloring with others. 

  Please join us!  The next meeting is  Mon. June 27th at 6:30 p.m.  & Tue. June 28th at 10 a.m.   We will furnish supplies, but you are welcome to bring your own coloring books, colored pencils, markers, etc.

The South Beloit Library has joined the OMNI eBook consortium.  South Beloit Library card holders have access to thousands of eBooks, free of charge, through the library website by clicking on the Overdrive icon below.   You must have a valid library card in order to access this collection.  The eBooks are downloadable to your computer or laptop, and are supported by some popular reader devices such as the iPad, Kindle, Sony Reader, Nook, and Apple and Android devices.  Some audiobooks are also available through OMNI. Log in with your library card barcode number. Your PIN would be the last 4 numbers of the barcode.
